Boswellia for Gout?

Boswellia for gout is not yet well known but it is worth a try!

Boswellia serrata has been used for centuries. It is a medium to large branched tree of the Burseraceae family that grows in the dry mountainous regions of India, North Africa and the Middle East. When a Boswellia shrub is about four years old, incisions are made in its bark. A white, liquid resin flows from these incisions. The resin drops then crystallize into golden brown resin grains. These grains constitute pure incense and are very precious.

This powerful plant is also highly valued in India and is part of Ayurvedic medicine to relieve pain from joint inflammation, arthritis and gout, among others.

It is a natural pain reliever as it contains active ingredients such as boswellic acids (AKBA: acetyl-11-ketoβ-boswellic acid) which are super potent anti-inflammatories that prevent inflammatory white blood cells from entering damaged tissue. This substance is the most powerful boswellic acid and it helps maintain joint flexibility and preserve cartilage.
It also increases the blood supply to inflamed joints by helping to repair any damage caused by inflammation or gout attack, helps stimulate cartilage growth and keeps joints supple.

Boswellia serrata is a natural ingredient, with very few side effects and can be used on a long-term basis. It can be taken in different ways, as dietary supplements in the form of pills, capsules or powders containing Boswellia serrata as active ingredient. It’s also often included in anti-inflammatory formulas with turmeric (and/or curcumin) and other herbs.
