Can Acupressure be an effective Gout Relief?

Gout relief can be a lifesaver for those suffering from the condition. Although exercise is a great preventative measure for gout, the pain relief it offers is not practical or comfortable. Many people believe that medication is the only option in this situation. If you prefer a non-pharmacological pain relief gout treatment, you might consider alternative and complementary remedies like acupressure. It is a good idea to consult your doctor before you begin any therapy. You will need to ensure that you don’t have any medical conditions that could prevent you from using alternative therapies like acupressure.

Acupressure

It is a type of Shiatsu massage. This massage is based upon ancient Chinese medicine and uses the same principles as acupuncture. Acupressure is based on a belief that there are approximately 2000 points on the body that can easily be manipulated to alter the energy flow. Each point is located on one or more of the 20 meridians, which are the lines along the energy flow. This energy, also known as Qi, flows between the body’s surface (where the acupressure point are located) and inside until it reaches the internal organs. The pressure points can be used to control the flow of Qi and help people achieve a better balance in their body and minds. An imbalance in the Qi can occur when the body is injured or becomes ill.

Qi Flow

Acupressure can alter the flow of Qi and direct energy to the affected area, allowing for better healing. This can be used to release muscular tension and increase blood flow to the affected areas. This is an important part of pain relief gout. The body can be restored to its natural balance once the energy allows healing speed up. Acupressure and acupuncture are different in that acupuncture uses needles to treat gout pain.

Acupressure only requires the practitioner to use their thumbs, fingers, or even knuckles to apply pressure to specific points to increase circulation to the affected area or joint. Acupressure for gout pain relief should only be administered by a trained professional. They will apply gentle pressure, but firm pressure, to the appropriate points on the body using a thumb, finger, or knuckle.

The pressure should be held for between 15 and 30 seconds. It is usually a quick, jolting sensation followed by numbness and tingling. This feeling then gradually dissipates. Most people feel immediate pain relief once the pressure has been released. Many people use acupressure to relieve pain and treat attacks. Juniper berries are one of the natural remedies that is gaining attention.
