How to get an immediate Pain Relief for Gout?

Gout is a painful condition that affects the big toe. However, it can also affect other joints like the fingers and knees. It is caused when crystals of uric acids build up in the tissues. It occurs when the body is unable or unwilling to remove uric acid from the tissues. This causes inflammation of the joints. Kidney stones can also be caused by uric acid.

Uric acid is a normal component of your blood. It dissolves in your blood, then passes through your kidneys to your urine. Sometimes, your body produces too much or excretes not enough of this acid. This can lead to uric acid crystals (urate), which can form in joints or other tissues. These crystals can cause pain, inflammation, and swelling. Inflammation in the joint can cause intense pain. This happens when white blood cells surround the crystals of uric acid.

Gout is more common in men than in women, although women are more vulnerable after menopause. Here some home remedies to treat Gout:

  • A charcoal/flaxseed poultice can be made. Mix 1/2 cup activated charcoal with 3 tablespoons flaxseed. Combine the two ingredients until you have a paste. Place the paste directly on the area. Cover it with a cloth or plastic. You can either change the dressing every four hours, or leave it on for a night. You should cover the poultice well to prevent charcoal from staining your clothing or bedding.
  • To lower your uric acid level, activated charcoal can be taken orally. You can take 1/2 teaspoon each morning, mid-morning, mid-afternoon, and at night.
  • Castor oil packs can be used. Place a piece of white Flannel over the affected area by soaking in warm Castor oil. Cover it with plastic wrap, then heat it using a hot water bottle or heating pad. Repeat this process twice daily for approximately one hour.
  • Alternating hot and cold applications can reduce pain. For three minutes, soak the joint in hot water and then rinse it with cold water for one minute. Make sure to use an Epsom salt foot soak. In a large pot or basin of hot water, add 2 to 3 tablespoons Epsom salts. For about half an hour, soak your feet in Epsom salts. You can also soak your whole body in Epsom salts. This is especially useful if the gout pain is located in another part.
