Dr. Choi studied a group of more than forty seven thousand men over a 12-year period.

The men were all healthy and had never had gout before. However, 730 of them had been diagnosed as having gout by the end the twelve-year period. This study revealed that people who eat a lot of meat are 40% more likely to develop gout.

Conclusion

Gout is also more common in those who consume large amounts of seafood. These foods are high-in purines but low in protein. Choi has shown that a combination of high-purine and high-protein foods may be the real cause of gout. Gout and cardiovascular disease may also be connected, as diets that are linked to gout are similar to those that are related to heart and circulatory diseases.
