Three years ago, I tried to lose weight with the Atkins Diet. The Atkins Diet is very low in carbs and high in protein. I lost almost 60 pounds. I felt full and satisfied. I also lost almost 60 pounds from my other bad habits that I quit last year. After just a few weeks, acid reflux, which had been bothering me for years, was gone. I followed the diet exactly, not cheating. I went through the two-week “induction” period of very low carbohydrate intake (almost no carb intake really). I also tested my urine every morning with the keto sticks to ensure that I was in ketosis. I received both the Atkins Cookbook and the basic book on the diet. I also learned how to make delicious food. I also used the Atkins Shake Mixes and canned shakes for quick breakfasts when I was at work. The best thing about it was that the weight fell right where I needed it most- in my stomach, and abdomen.
Excess Weight
Experts believe that people who carry excess weight in their belly are more likely to develop diabetes than those who are equally overweight. However, there is no way to know if the excess weight is evenly distributed. I was wearing clothes I hadn’t worn for a while. My disapproving doctor called it a “funky diet” for five months. I looked great and didn’t feel hungry. I was stopped from continuing because of intense, sharp pain in my kidneys. It started suddenly one day. This diet was dangerous for my kidneys. I stopped and the weight gained back was more than I lost. Despite taking a multivitamin and many other supplements daily, my immune system was weak and I caught colds easily. I still have a small lump on my left leg. I don’t know if it is due to gout or another side effect of the diet.
The most important thing was the intense pain in the kidneys. This made me stop my diet immediately. I am still searching for the right diet for me. I have tried many things over the years: counting calories, Weight Watchers (3 times), and just plain going hungry. But, I still haven’t found a permanent solution. I believe that restricting carbs was the right path for me, although perhaps not as severely or for as long.
Essential Fatty Acids
Like any other drug or medication, food supplements require a specific dosage before they can be administered. Different conditions and diseases will require different dosages. What are the dosing requirements for omega 3 fish oil supplements, and what are they? There are many forms of fish oil. Soft gel capsules are the most popular form of fish oil. They are made from cold-water fish like mackerel and albacore tuna. To preserve the oils in their most pure form, this is directly taken from the fish. This type typically contains at least 30% Eicosapentaenoic Acid, (EPA), and Docosahexaenoic Acid(DHA), which are important forms Omega-3 fatty acid.
These fatty acids are usually distributed in a 3 to 2 ratio in most products, but supplements can have lower or higher ratios. These fatty acids can be added to salads and sauces as fish oil emulsions. Infusions of fish oil in products have been developed to maximize its health benefits. Some snack bars in Japan contain fish oil as a nutritional supplement. Some infant formulas in Europe contain fish oil. 1000 mg twice daily is recommended for anti-aging. According to some doctors, angina patients should consume 2,000 mg fish oils three times per day. Arrhythmia sufferers need 1,000 mg three times per day. Certain types of cancer can be treated with three capsules. People with Crohn’s Disease and Lupus, psoriasis, diabetes, and lupus need to take 2,000 mg twice daily. 1000 mg three times daily is recommended for heart disease prevention, gout relief, and blood pressure lowering.
Remember
Patients with a family history or other blood clotting disorders, such as hemophilia, should consult a doctor before taking Omega-3 supplements. Before you take large amounts of any new supplement, make sure to consult your doctor. Different supplements may contain different amounts of DHA or EPA. To determine which brand is best, it is important to know that DHA is the most important factor. Although DHA can be synthesized by the human body to make EPA, it is impossible to reverse the process. DHA is a key component of Resolvin D2, an essential anti-inflammatory chemical. The more DHA in a capsule, it is, the more powerful it will be. It is important to check that a brand contains at minimum 25% DHA per weight. For example, a 1000-mg fish oils supplement brand should contain more than 250mg DHA.
