  • Oregano. Oregano is an excellent antioxidant. Rosmarinic acid, which has anti-inflammatory, antioxidant and antiviral properties, is the main reason that oregano and other medical herbs are rich in antioxidants. The antioxidants found in oregano may help protect you from cell damage caused by free radicals. Free radical reactions are involved in inflammation, degenerative joint diseases, and the aging process. There is increasing evidence that antioxidants may help ease osteoarthritis and rheumatoid joint diseases. They may also be one of the natural remedies for arthritis.
  • Pineapple. Bromelain, a chemical found in pineapples, helps to reduce swelling. Athletes have been advised by coaches to use pineapple to manage traumas during games. It is believed to have a positive effect on arthritis. Bromelain may help the body get rid of some immune antigen complexes that are implicated in arthritic conditions.
  • Rosemary. Rosemary herbal tea is one of the most well-known herbal remedies for arthritis. The four anti-inflammatory compounds found in the leaves of rosemary include earnosol (oleanolic acid), rosmarinic acid and ursolic acids. Carnosol is similar to aspirin and steroids in its anti-inflammatory properties. China has been marketing oleanolic acid as an antioxidant. In animal studies, ursolic acid, which accounts for four percent of the plant’s weight, was shown to have anti-arthritic properties.
  • Sesame Seeds. Sesame seeds are a Chinese remedy for arthritis. A half-ounce of sesame seeds contains approximately four grams of essential fatty acids, 175 mgs of calcium, 64 mgs of magnesium, and 0.73 milligrams copper. Due to the increased needs of the body during inflammation, it may be necessary to increase copper intake.
