Can Chiropractic Care help with Heart Health?

What is Cardiovascular Disease? Cardiovascular disease refers to a variety of conditions that can cause damage to the structure or function of your heart. Heart disease is the leading cause for death in the United States. It is therefore important to understand the risks, implications and treatments of these diseases. According to this research publication, more than 80 million people are diagnosed with cardiovascular disease each year. Cardiovascular disease is a leading cause of death worldwide. However, it is more common in the United States due to inactivity and Western diets. Recent research shows that chiropractic care can reduce cardiovascular risk factors. This case involves a 30-year-old male who sought chiropractic care after being diagnosed with high cholesterol and high triglycerides.

Triglycerides

His blood work revealed that his triglycerides were 577 mg/dL (with the usual range being between 35-150 mg/dL and cholesterol was 246 mg/dL, with the normal range being between 130-200 mg/dL). These numbers would indicate that the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention classify this patient at high risk for developing heart disease. The patient also reported to his chiropractor that he had been experiencing lower back pain and signs of gout for six weeks. His chiropractor performed an examination that included a visual postural assessment, orthopedic tests and motion and static palpation. He also used paraspinal thermography instrumentation to determine if there were any deep tendon reflexes in the upper and lower extremities.

The results of the chiropractor’s examination revealed that there were spinal subluxations. Specific chiropractic adjustments were made twice per week to correct these subluxations. The patient also implemented lifestyle modifications such as diet and exercise into his chiropractic treatment. The patient saw a significant improvement in his symptoms and other complaints, including lower back pain and joint pain. The patient also reported that his sleep patterns and digestion had improved. The patient was able, after consulting his physician, to stop taking cholesterol and triglyceride medication.

After five weeks of treatment, the patient’s blood work was normal. His blood work revealed that his triglycerides were 126mg/dL (the normal range is between 35-150 mg/dL and cholesterol was 188mg/dL, with the normal range being between 130-200 mg/dL). Both of these levels were now within normal limits. One study suggests that chiropractic care can reduce your risk factors for cardiovascular disease. Numerous other studies have shown that chiropractic care can help reduce your risk of developing cardiovascular disease. One study found that patients who were suffering from high heart rates experienced lower average heart rates after receiving adjustments. This is the main reason why chiropractic care may be able to reduce cardiovascular disease. Research shows that stress can contribute to an increase in heart rate. Another study looked at the relationship between anxiety levels and systolic or diastolic bloodpressure. The study measured changes in the subjects after they had received chiropractic care. The results showed that patients could reduce their anxiety and blood pressure.

Chiropractic Care

While medical drugs are what we rely upon when we are sick, did you know that there are other healing methods than taking in medication? Chiropractic is one method of treating most common diseases. It can help relieve pain and treat some conditions.

  • Arthritis- This refers to joint inflammation and can be caused by a variety of medical conditions. Although there are medications that can be used to treat this condition, there are natural remedies such as chiropractic treatment that can help ease the pain through hands-on manipulation.
  • Sport Injury – A lot of reasons an athlete should see a chiropractor, especially if they are involved in contact sports. There are many sports chiropractic clinics in the United States that can treat injuries.
  • Neck and Shoulder Pain – Don’t just go to the nearest pharmacy to buy pain relief tablets. Instead, visit a chiropractor to have them examine your back, neck, and shoulder.
  • Recurrent Headaches – A chiropractor is considered to be as qualified as doctors of medicine. If you are looking for a natural way to relieve your headaches, they can help you. If the illness is beyond their reach, they will refer you to the right person. Chiropractic believes that the body can heal itself, but with misaligned vertebrae, it cannot function well. Chiropractic massage is offered by chiropractors. They are also experts in muscle spasm and tension relief. Subluxations or misalignment in the vertebrae of the neck may also cause muscle spasm.
  • Hashimoto’s Disease- Although there have not been any scientific studies, many people who have suffered from this condition for a long time and have had their symptoms cured by chiropractic care.

There are many ailments or diseases that chiropractic treatment can treat. These include measles and heartburn, pneumonia, eczema as well as gout, dysentery and kidney problems. There are some things chiropractors and doctors of chiropractic are not allowed to do, just as with other things. You cannot perform surgery or prescribe any medication. One misconception about chiropractors is that they are physical therapists. Although they are two different fields, they share one thing in common: hands-on manipulation to correct health problems.

For Arthritis

Many people will experience “arthritis” at some point in their lives. The term arthritis is a synonym for joint inflammation and is often used to refer to rheumatic conditions. Rheumatoid arthritis includes over 100 conditions, including osteoarthritis and rheumatoid. It is most common to develop rheumatism in middle age. However, it can also occur as a young child. This is called juvenile rheumatoid. Rheumatoid arthritis symptoms include pain, swelling, stiffness, and loss of joint range. These symptoms can often be seen symmetrically, such as both the wrists and both the ankles. Redness, tenderness and swelling can all be signs of a joint infection.

The most common joint problems are those in the wrists and proximal fingers. However, spinal joints in the neck and shoulder, elbow, hips, knees, ankles, hips, knees, ankles, and joints of the feet may also be affected. Rheumatoid arthritis can present in a variety of ways. There are times when symptoms flare up and then disappear completely. You may experience fatigue or other symptoms. The disease can also affect other parts of your body, including the joints. In severe cases, joint damage can lead to permanent disability. To manage this disease and its effects on your joint, it is important to exercise.

Exercise

Exercise can help maintain flexibility, muscle strength and joint mobility. It also helps you to manage your weight. Acute flare-ups should be treated by reducing joint swelling, inflammation, and controlling joint damage. This could include resting and immobilizing a joint. Patients should be directed to exercises that will improve joint flexibility and normal joint movement as soon as possible. Stretching, which is a range of motion exercise, can be done every day. In the absence of severe pain or swelling, strengthening exercises can be done every other days.
