What are Urate Crystals?

Gout crystals are characterized by inflamed, painful, and hot joints. Gout crystals form when the uric acid level reaches saturation. These crystals can dissolve slowly and revert to uric acid if the acid level drops. The bio-chemically produced substance is called uric acid crystals or “urate crystals”. Scientists and researchers often refer to urate crystals either as mono-sodium or MSU crystals. It is actually caused by the formation of MSU crystals within body tissues, which can cause or result in chronic or acute inflammation disease commonly known as gout.

Autoimmunity

Gout is a type of autoimmune medical condition. This medical condition occurs when the body is unable to protect itself against foreign substances that disrupt the entire system. The substance that is affecting the body is not a virus or bacteria. Most gout sufferers have micro crystals within their bodies, as has been proven. These micro crystals are needle-like in appearance. These crystals form in the blood stream, interstitial fluids, between cells, and often within the synovial fluid.

The best conditions for the formation urate crystals are created when uric levels are higher than normal. It is therefore very difficult to get rid of it completely. Acid buildup is a major factor in the development of gout. Your body produces uric acid when it processes purine substances.

Uric Acid

The body’s average level of uric acid should be between 3.6mg/dl and 8.3mg/dl. Gouty arthritis is caused by too much acid in the body. This is caused by the body not removing enough uric acid through urine. The under-excretion causes gout in more than 90% of cases. There are many reasons your system may not be able to eliminate uric acids. One reason is a genetic abnormality in certain substances that causes your body to absorb the acid from the kidneys and transport it to your bloodstream.

Sometimes, low levels of uric acid excretion can occur when a patient is taking a medication. These levels can be increased by taking diuretics, aspirin, and alcohol. If the kidneys stop working properly, it can cause a lack of uric acid excretion. Gout usually develops between 40 and 60 years of age.

Gout Fact

Gout can also develop earlier if it is hereditary. Gout can be triggered by an injury in fewer cases. Gout can be triggered by a sharp blow to the toe. This is when your joints begin to feel the reddening, heat, inflammation, and throbbing pain that can become almost unbearable.
