Why to know about Foods that cause Gout?

Gout can be caused by eating a diet high on purines. Purines can turn into uric acids, which can build up in your joints and cause painful attacks. This disease can be prevented by eating right.  Bacon. Because it is high in purines, nitrates, this popular breakfast food can cause severe problems. The sodium can also dehydrate you, increasing your chance of getting a flare-up.

Take Note

  • Hot dogs. Hot dogs, turkey, chicken, and beef, can be very harmful to your treatment efforts. All three meats contain at least moderate amounts of purines. Hot dogs can also contain organ parts. These are the highest levels.
  • Game Foods Due to their high levels of steroid, wild game like venison, pheasant and squirrel should be avoided. These animals are not as steroid-filled as meat products, so you might think they would not cause us any problems. However, their levels are quite high. The worst and longest-lasting case of gout that I ever had was caused by eating venison every single day for a few weeks. I didn’t know it was bad for me at the time. My attack lasted for a month.
  • Poultry. Turkey and chicken are both considered moderately high in protein. They can also be dependent on the individual. People who can’t eat chicken are not uncommon. However, chicken is my mainstay meat. I don’t recall ever having an attack due to eating chicken. I have however had an attack after eating turkey. If you aren’t sure if chicken or any other food will cause an attack, eat in moderation.
  • Certain Seafood. If you have gout, certain fish and shellfish may not be good for you. As do shrimp and crab, salmon has high levels. Salmon has twice as many levels of omega 3 oils as chicken. Salmon is not good for gout patients. However, this delicious food is rich in omega 3 oils which can help with gout. Instead, I recommend taking supplements.
  • Gout can be caused by alcohol. Beer is more problematic than wine. Beer has almost eight times the amount of purines than alcohol.
  • If you have gout, peas/lentils legumes are not recommended for you to eat. Although peas have a slightly higher level of purines than chickens, black eye peas have a significantly higher level.

Conclusion

Every person is different. Some people can eat these foods with no problem, while others will have to suffer. It is important that you test foods in moderation to determine what your body can take. Gout prevention will be easier if you know what foods can trigger a flare up.
